Champions of the World
It’s snowing outside my window, as I look out over the freeway. On the other side of I-35/70/29/71 is River Market neighborhood… I’m looking at the mural of Lewis & Clark on the ancient brick of what might still be an antique store. I like Kansas City. I like living in the Garment District. I like playing music every night for great people, some of whom are now regulars and feel like family. Others are passing through town and I have the great honor of showing some hospitality and treating our guests with my best effort at entertaining. Last night we had another great time at The Phoenix. I’m feeling blessed — favored, as some might say. Tonight at Chaz at the Raphael Hotel on the Plaza… I always truly enjoy the vibe there. I have a very skilled bassist subbing in tonight for my main man Taygun. Blake Eberhard is a master of his instrument, and he’s a really nice guy too! So it should be a wonderful evening. I’m proud of what is being built here, and I’m proud to be a Kansas City resident and entertainer. This city is proud, and we should be. Thanks, Chiefs! You guys achieved a feat that is nearly impossible, and you have done it now twice out of the last 3 years. Pretty great. How ‘bout them …..
